Staff

Our team coaches are certified by and members of USA Gymnastics (USAG). Each competitive team coach is safety certified, and attends the USAG regional and national congress. Each instructor is certified in CPR and First-Aid.

 

Sally Thomas, owner of Thomas Gymnastics Training Center Inc., began her gymnastics career when she was 10 years old. She competed for the University of Oklahoma along with friend and former Olympian, Bart Conner. She graduated from Winthrop University in 2001 with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education. She has coached state, regional, and national Champions over her 25 years of coaching and in 1986 was voted SC Coach of the Year. She enjoys golf, softball, snow skiing and being a mom to daughter, Ashleyanne, and son Triston.

 

 
Lauren Calkins is from Columbia, SC where she taught at Columbia Gymnastics Academy for 4 years. She has worked for Thomas Gymnastics for 6 years, where she coaches levels 4 – 9 and is USAG Safety Certified. Lauren is currently a senior at Winthrop University studying Business Administration.  Lauren’s loyalty and love for the sport and the children make her a great asset.

Tamee Tindal has been coaching youth sports for over 20 years and teaching here at Thomas Gymnastics for the last ? years.  Tamee coaches all levels of competitive gymnastics including prep-optional, compulsory and optional.  Her primary motivation for coaching is her love for the kids and gymnastics and the opportunity to help each gymnast achieve his or her individual best. Tamee has two daughters who are competitive gymnasts here at Thomas.

Chris Orr is from Fredonia, NY where he has taught gymnastics for the past 7 years.  He worked and trained with Team Lighting in Erie, PA for two years.  He was a 4-sport All-American in high school. Chris also has a Degree in Computer and Electronic Technology.

Kermit Belton has over 20 years experience as a gymnast and coach. Kermit has several state champions to his credit. He enjoys teaching with the see it done it method. He will always show the children what he is teaching as well as talking them through it as they become more comfortable with the skill. He enjoys spending time with his family in his spare time.

Tara Norman comes to Thomas from Mt. Airy, NC and was a competitive gymnast through level 8.  She moved to Wilmington, NC to get her bachelor’s degree in Biology and also cheered for UNC-W.  She is attending Winthrop grad school for Human Nutrition.

Jimmy Bagley has been involved in the cheerleading program at Westminster Catawba for over 3 years.  He is Safety Certified by the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors.  Jimmy enjoys teaching tumbling and is the proud “Team Dad” of Andrea, Julia and Olivia. He enjoys spending time with his family and wonderful wife Angela. Rebecca Bigham has been a competitive dancer and cheerleader for over 14 years and is currently pursuing a degree in education. Beth is married with 2 daughters and has been involved in gymnastics for 5 years and then started teaching in Virginia for 15 years.
Mary Warner Mack is currently a level 9 gymnast and a senior at Nation Ford High School. She has been in gymnastics since age 5 and enjoys working with the pre-school classes. Laurel Smoak is a rising sophomore at Winthrop and was a competitive gymnast in Greenwood. During her career, she competed at the state and regional level.  She enjoys working with all level gymnasts. Ashleyanne Thomas has been involved in gymnastics since she was 16 months old and has cheered all of her life. She is a senior at South Pointe High School.  Ashleyanne enjoys working with the East Coast Pride All-Star Cheerleading team and specialty classes.
Bio Coming Soon Bernice Woodard is a senior at South Pointe High School where she has cheered and participated on the track team. She enjoys working with the East Coast Pride All-Star Cheerleading team, pre-school, and specialty classes.

Natosha Woodson is the proud mother of 2 beautiful daughters and has been involved in dance, cheerleading, and gymnastics all of her life.  She has participated in cheerleading at all school levels including college. She enjoys demonstrating for her students and in her off time spending time with the girls and husband Dino.
